What is the best way to wash a bed comforter?

Someone previously asked this question, and all all that anyone said was to stuff it into a big washing machine and let it air dry.

If I am able to fit it into our dorm%26#039;s washing machine (haven%26#039;t washed it once this school year), will it finish airdrying by bedtime. I don%26#039;t want to sleep with a wet comforter especially in winter.

My research on google advises handwashing but that is highly impractical in a dorm setting. If I do put it in the dryer, do I put a shoe into to keep it fluffy and to prevent it from becoming lumpy? It is not down and has no zipper.

Find a coin operated laundry facility with one of the triple size front loader washers. It will spin it drier than a regular washer. Then dry it there as well they dryers are usually larger and have nore fluff space. Throw in a tennis shoe /without the laces. That can become tangled in the comforter.

ORRRRRRRRRRR

Take it home for grandma to do, that%26#039;s what my granddaughter does!

Good Luck! BY the way I gave you Good instructions for a DIY!
Reply:Take it to the laundry mat and wash and dry it there, you can put them in the dryer I%26#039;ve done it MANY of times, just use a low heat setting.
Reply:i have a big fluffy jacket the tag said to dry it with tennis balls so i do think you need to put a shoe (or try tennis balls {their cleaner} but not as big) but really if the tag is still on the blanket i would very much recomend reading if its still on there. if you do go to a laundry mat make sure you ask them if they dont mind you putting shoes in there dryers ( some places do not allow this) other wise call and ask the cleaners if they will wash it for you. :)
Reply:i put ours in our washing machine....set controls on slow spin....and dry it on low or medium...it works fine.....just lay it in there slow and keep it loose
Reply:No, I do not think your comforter would be dry by bedtime if you let it air dry. I would put it in the dryer and put a shoe with it to keep it fluffed.
Reply:you can wash it in the washer and dry it later with a clean sneaker, it works best.

yes you can also put the sneaker in the wash with it, but works best in dryer. Also when in dryer put setting on low to medium so as not to overdry the fibers inside and cause shrinkage
Reply:Take it to a laundromat that has oversized washers and dryers. Wash with mild detergent and dry on cool setting.
Reply:if its not feather you can put it in the dryer, shoes wont matter, it will fluff if its made of good poly filling and lump if its cheap, such is life.
Reply:the biggest problem with drying them is that they tend to roll up into a big ball as they tumble and only the outside dries. stay close, study in the laundry and check on it every once in a while. bring more quarters than you think you%26#039;ll need. good luck and study hard!!
